Under the patronage and supervision of the Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Dr. Zahraa Halim Al-Qayyim, and with the follow-up of the Head of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy, Dr. Zaid Saad Abdul Madh, the activities of the First Forum on Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy were officially launched. Organized by the department from April 18 to 19, 2026, the forum was held under the theme “Continuous Movement for a Sustainable Life,” with the active participation of Al-Qa’im Company and the attendance of a distinguished group of physicians, researchers, and specialists from various medical disciplines.
The forum featured a series of specialized scientific lectures. Dr. Aoun Al-Shaya, Director of the Special Internal Security Forces Hospital for Rehabilitation of the Injured, presented the latest applications of robotic technologies in physiotherapy and highlighted their role in enhancing the efficiency of rehabilitation programs and accelerating recovery.
Dr. Mustafa Ali Sharif also addressed the significance of laser technologies in physiotherapy, emphasizing their contributions to pain reduction, injury treatment, and the promotion of healing processes.
In an advanced session, Dr. Muntadhar Hassan Shubbar, a specialist in Physical Medicine and Medical Rehabilitation at Al-Rusafa Health Directorate, delivered a scientific lecture on FreeEMG technology, explaining its vital role in diagnosing muscular disorders and accurately assessing functional performance.
For his part, Dr. Zaid Saad Abdul Madh emphasized that medical rehabilitation constitutes a fundamental pillar within the complementary treatment system, given its direct impact on supporting therapeutic plans and improving patients’ quality of life through comprehensive rehabilitation programs.
Dr. Yass also highlighted the growing importance of physiotherapy within the healthcare system, noting the expanding professional opportunities in this field amid the rapid advancement of modern medical technologies.
At the conclusion of the forum, the lecturers and participants were honored by the Deanship of the College, in the presence of the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Khafaji, in recognition of their scientific contributions and efforts in ensuring the success of this academic event.
The organization of this forum reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen scientific collaboration and exchange expertise among specialists, contributing to the development of medical rehabilitation services and the advancement of healthcare quality.
