the Department of Biochemistry at the College of Science / Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific field trip to the Blood Bank in Babylon Province On Monday, April 20, 2026 , under the supervision of the Head of the Department and accompanied by Assistant Lecturer Abbas Hamza Khudair. This visit was conducted within the framework of enhancing the practical aspect and linking theoretical concepts with real-world applications. The visit aimed to familiarize students with the scientific procedures adopted in blood transfusion centers. Students were introduced, in a practical setting, to blood donation procedures and the essential laboratory tests required to ensure the safety of both donors and recipients. They also learned about blood typing methods according to approved systems, as well as modern techniques used to detect blood-borne viruses and the standard procedures followed to ensure the quality and safety of blood units. The trip also included an overview of laboratory equipment and technical tools used in analysis and testing processes, along with a detailed explanation of their working principles and their role in ensuring accurate results. This field trip comes as part of the department’s efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly the goal related to good health and well-being, by preparing qualified scientific personnel equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to serve the community.
