The Department of Medical Instrumentation Engineering Techniques at Al-Mustaqbal University – third stage organized an awareness campaign titled: “The Giant Batteries Challenge” on 25/4/2026 at Al-Mustaqbal University, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ziad Taha, Assistant Lecturer Atyaf Abdul Mahdi, and Assistant Lecturer Fatima Ihsan. The campaign aimed to highlight the importance of energy storage technologies and their vital role in supporting renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy, which are characterized by intermittency. It also focused on the challenges facing the development of giant batteries capable of storing large amounts of energy with high efficiency and reasonable cost. The campaign addressed the role of these batteries in achieving sustainability by storing excess energy during production periods and utilizing it when needed, which contributes to reducing dependence on fossil fuels and supporting the continuous operation of cities with clean energy around the clock. It also encouraged innovation in energy technologies as a fundamental step toward a more sustainable future. This campaign aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and Goal 13 (Climate Action). Al-Mustaqbal University, ranked first among private universities in Iraq, reaffirms its commitment to supporting innovation and promoting awareness in sustainable energy fields.
