The Department of Fuel and Energy Technologies Engineering at the College of Engineering Technology, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit, organized an awareness workshop titled "Women’s Voice Shapes Decision-Making in Peace" on May 2, 2026. The event was held under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi. The workshop, directly supervised by the lecturer Asst. Lect. Zahraa Salah Hadi, addressed the pivotal role of women in building peace and enhancing social stability through their active participation in decision-making positions. It also highlighted their central role in spreading a culture of dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence within society. The event witnessed remarkable interaction from the attendees, discussing the key challenges facing women in leadership roles. It emphasized the importance of empowering women academically and socially, aligning with the pillars of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women, particularly the "Participation and Protection" pillars. Through these activities, the department aims to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), by fostering a university and social environment that believes in true partnership to build the future and consolidate the principles of justice and equality. The department affirmed that organizing this workshop is part of its ongoing efforts to support awareness and cultural activities that enhance the status of women and establish values of peace and coexistence, encouraging active participation in various academic and social fields.
