Medical laboratories are undergoing a major transformation thanks to the integration of automation and artificial intelligence, leading to the emergence of “smart laboratories” characterized by high speed and extreme accuracy in analyzing biological samples. These laboratories rely on fully automated analyzers, robotic sample handling, and AI systems that process data and produce instant reports. Smart laboratories enhance the quality of laboratory operations by reducing human error and accelerating turnaround time, which is critical in emergency cases. They also allow handling large volumes of samples in short periods, increasing the efficiency of hospitals and health centers. Additionally, smart systems provide direct integration with electronic medical records, creating a seamless medical workflow from sample collection to the delivery of results to the treating physician. AI can also analyze laboratory patterns to predict diseases or monitor the development of chronic conditions. Smart laboratories embody the future of laboratory medicine, where technological innovation merges with medical accuracy to deliver faster, more advanced, and more reliable healthcare. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first one university in Iraq.
