Hepatitis A is a common viral disease that affects the liver and is caused by the hepatitis A virus known as HAV it is mainly transmitted through consuming contaminated food or water or due to poor personal hygiene especially not washing hands properly after using the bathroom or before eating the disease appears after an incubation period ranging from two to six weeks and symptoms usually begin gradually including general fatigue loss of appetite nausea vomiting abdominal pain especially in the upper right side mild fever and it may progress to jaundice which is the yellowing of the skin and eyes along with dark urine although the disease may seem concerning it is usually mild and resolves on its own without specific treatment management mainly includes rest adequate fluid intake avoiding fatty foods and alcohol and monitoring liver function prevention is very important and includes good personal hygiene proper hand washing safe drinking water thorough washing of fruits and vegetables and vaccination which provides effective protection against infection
