Humanitarian Visit to the Elderly Care Home to Promote Values of Giving and Social Responsibility Among Civil Engineering Students

As part of the Civil Engineering Department’s commitment at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, to its humanitarian and community role, the department organized a field visit to an elderly care home outside the university campus on Saturday, April 4, 2026, with the participation of some students and under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Lina Hussein Ali, Assistant Lecturer Ali Hussein Ali Hussein, Lecturer Dr. Uday Hamza Hammoud Hussein, Assistant Lecturer Saif Salam, and Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Hussein Mohammed. This meaningful initiative aimed to instill humanitarian and social values in students and to strengthen the spirit of solidarity, compassion, and responsibility toward the most vulnerable members of society, particularly the elderly, who represent symbols of wisdom, experience, and lifelong contribution. The visit was marked by a warm and caring atmosphere, during which the students prepared and presented symbolic gifts to the residents of the elderly care home. They also spent quality time interacting with them, bringing joy and happiness to their hearts and leaving a profound humanitarian impact on everyone involved. This activity forms part of the Civil Engineering Department’s efforts to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by providing psychological and emotional support to older adults; Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities, by caring for the most vulnerable groups in society; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening community cooperation and promoting a culture of volunteerism and public service.
