In a new strategic step reflecting its future-oriented vision toward academic and technological leadership, Al-Mustaqbal University announced the launch of the “Al-Mustaqbal University Council for Artificial Intelligence” as an advanced institutional platform dedicated to leading digital and knowledge transformation within the university, while linking education, scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship with future requirements in a manner that supports the knowledge economy and achieves sustainable development. The announcement of the Council’s establishment was made during an official ceremony held for the occasion, attended by the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, along with a number of academic and administrative leaders, faculty members, researchers, and individuals interested in the fields of artificial intelligence and digital transformation. In his speech during the ceremony, the university president emphasized that the establishment of this council represents a pivotal milestone in the university's journey toward becoming a “smart university” that adopts the latest digital technologies and employs artificial intelligence applications across various aspects of university operations, including education, administration, scientific research, and institutional services, thereby enhancing the university's competitiveness at both local and international levels. He explained that the Council will work to build an integrated artificial intelligence ecosystem within the university through the development of intelligent systems for admission, registration, academic advising, and institutional performance analysis. It will also support adaptive and hybrid learning, utilize virtual reality and intelligent simulation technologies, and employ predictive analytics to support university decision-making and improve institutional efficiency. The ceremony also featured a specialized presentation delivered by the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, who outlined the Council’s strategic vision, institutional mission, future objectives, and the most significant strategic pathways it will adopt in the coming phase. Al-Zuhairi noted that the Council’s vision is to “lead the transformation toward an innovative smart university that contributes to building a sustainable knowledge economy based on artificial intelligence.” He explained that the Council will operate across a broad range of modern strategic pathways, including smart education development, support for scientific research and innovation in AI applications, medical and healthcare artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and startups, cybersecurity, and AI ethics, as well as building international partnerships and technological alliances. He added that the Council will also adopt specialized initiatives to employ artificial intelligence in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals; developing students’ future skills; supporting digital transformation in economic and industrial sectors; and advancing digital media and intelligent content creation, in addition to establishing the “Al-Mustaqbal Observatory” as a foresight platform dedicated to monitoring emerging technologies and analyzing their impact on higher education and the labor market.
