Al-Mustaqbal University has achieved a distinguished international academic milestone by securing funding for an academic project under the Jean Monnet Actions, part of the Erasmus+ Programme supported by the European Union. This achievement reflects the growing presence of Iraqi universities in international academic and research cooperation programmes.
The winning project is entitled:
“One Health in EU Policy: Implications for Medical and Health Practice”
This achievement is particularly significant as the project has received 100% full funding from the European Commission to implement its academic and educational activities.
This success is the result of more than four years of sustained efforts and continuous follow-up, during which Iraqi higher education institutions made significant progress in engaging with European Union programmes, particularly Erasmus+. These efforts included strengthening institutional capacities, establishing specialized Erasmus units, participating in scientific workshops and intensive training programmes, and ultimately competing for international projects and securing European funding.
On this occasion, Al-Mustaqbal University extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, recognizing its continued support and significant efforts in strengthening the capacities of Iraqi universities and enabling them to compete effectively in international academic programmes and projects.
The University also expresses its deep appreciation to:
Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul Dahad, Deputy Minister for Research and Development.
Prof. Dr. Hazim Baqir Taher, Director General of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations.
Dr. Muwaffaq Sajet, Director of the Department of International Organizations.
Their unwavering support and sponsorship of scientific workshops and specialized training programmes have played a significant role in developing academic and institutional capacities and enhancing the readiness of Iraqi universities to participate in and compete for international projects.
Winning the Jean Monnet Grant represents a strategic milestone in Al-Mustaqbal University’s academic journey and further demonstrates its ability to strengthen its presence on the international academic stage and expand partnerships with leading global institutions and programmes. It also reflects the University’s commitment to advancing education and scientific research while promoting innovation and international cooperation.
