Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, received at the University Presidency headquarters Eng. Makki Hadi Imran Al-Shammari, Director General of the Department of Environmental Protection and Improvement in the Middle Euphrates Region, accompanied by a representative of the Ministry of Environment and a representative of environmental organizations. The meeting was held within the framework of strengthening joint cooperation and expanding national partnerships that support environmental protection, sustainability, and efforts to address climate change. The meeting addressed avenues for enhancing cooperation between Al-Mustaqbal University, governmental authorities, environmental institutions, and civil society organizations, in a manner that contributes to leveraging the University's academic and research capacities to address environmental challenges and support national sustainability initiatives. The discussions focused on several key areas, most notably: Strengthening Partnerships to Address Climate Change: Leveraging the University's scientific expertise and research capabilities to develop practical solutions and recommendations that contribute to mitigating the environmental impacts of climate change. Implementing Sustainability Projects and Initiatives: Supporting and activating environmental, awareness-raising, and field-based programs and initiatives aimed at protecting the local environment and enhancing community awareness. Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals: Strengthening effective cooperation and partnerships among academic, governmental, and community institutions, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). During the meeting, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University affirmed the University's commitment to engaging and cooperating with various national institutions and stakeholders concerned with environmental affairs. He also emphasized the University's support for initiatives and projects that contribute to environmental protection and enhance resilience and adaptive capacity in response to climate change, thereby reinforcing the University's role in advancing sustainable development and serving the community.
