Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majidi, and the Dean of the College of Agricultural Technologies, Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abdul-Kadhim Abdul, the Department of Medicinal Plants at the College of Agricultural Technologies organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled “Artificial Seeds and Their Applications,” presented by Prof. Dr. Majeed Kadhim Abbas.
The workshop introduced artificial seed technology as one of the advanced techniques in plant tissue culture and the production of artificial alternatives to conventional seeds. It highlighted the important role of this technology in protecting rare and medicinal plant species from extinction and genetic deterioration, as well as its importance in facilitating plant conservation and propagation processes with high efficiency.
The workshop witnessed active participation and valuable contributions from faculty members, students, and researchers interested in agricultural sciences. Prof. Dr. Majeed Kadhim Abbas provided comprehensive explanations of the mechanisms and practical applications of this technology, followed by extensive scientific discussions and an exchange of views and ideas on ways to utilize this technology locally.
This event reflects the College of Agricultural Technologies’ commitment to keeping pace with global scientific developments in plant sciences and promoting applied scientific research, contributing to the advancement of the agricultural and environmental sectors and supporting efforts to preserve plant diversity and genetic resources in Iraq.
