The University of Barcelona is one of Europe's oldest and most prestigious educational institutions, founded in 1450. During his tour, Prof. Hassan Shakir Majdi examined the academic plaques and stone inscriptions adorning the university’s corridors, which chronicle key milestones in its history—including murals commemorating the university's autonomy and the enactment of its foundational statutes. The main halls and passageways are further embellished with oil paintings and artistic works reflecting the heritage of the Catalonia region, underscoring the university's enduring role as a beacon of education and art throughout the centuries. The University of Barcelona comprises 16 specialized faculties covering fields such as medicine, pharmacy, engineering, law, economics, basic sciences, and the arts. It accommodates a vast student body of over 60,000, including a significant number of master’s and doctoral students and researchers. The collaboration spans areas such as sports medicine, nutrition, performance research, and management, while combining leading academic expertise with professional sports insights.
