The Department of Cybersecurity Engineering Technologies at the Technical Engineering College of Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific and awareness activity delivered by lecturer Mr. Mohammed Baqir Miqdad Mohsen, entitled “Malware & Ransomware,” under the slogan “Know Your Digital Enemy Before It Strikes. The activity covered various types of malware, including viruses, Trojan horses, spyware, and botnets, as well as the stages of ransomware attacks and key security analysis and detection tools, such as YARA, VirusTotal, Sandbox, and EDR. It also emphasized the importance of digital protection measures and isolated backups in safeguarding data and ensuring its recovery in the event of cyberattacks. This activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and reflects the university’s commitment to raising digital awareness and developing students’ technical skills. Al-Mustaqbal University, ranked first among Iraqi private universities, continues its efforts to support scientific and awareness activities and keep pace with technological advancements.
