As part of its efforts to promote digital security awareness and protect privacy, students from the Cybersecurity Engineering Technologies Department at the College of Engineering Technologies, Al-Mustaqbal University, conducted an on-campus awareness activity highlighting the risks associated with public Wi-Fi networks, including digital surveillance, data interception, and the exploitation of fake wireless networks. The activity focused on essential protective measures, such as using VPNs to encrypt data, disabling automatic connections to open networks, avoiding banking transactions over unsecured networks, and verifying the use of the HTTPS security protocol when browsing websites. This initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by promoting safe technology use and strengthening digital protection within the university community. Al-Mustaqbal University, ranked first among private Iraqi universities, continues to support student initiatives aimed at building a safe and sustainable digital environment.
