As part of its efforts to strengthen international academic cooperation and expand partnerships with leading global universities, Al-Mustaqbal University held a virtual meeting with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), USA, to explore opportunities for academic partnerships and the development of joint postgraduate programs and professional certifications. The initiative aims to enhance the quality of education and provide students and academic staff with advanced educational and professional training opportunities. The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University; Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision; Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abd, Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies; and Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Shaker Majdi, Dean of the College of Engineering. A number of department heads and specialists from the University Presidency also participated, alongside representatives responsible for scientific and academic cooperation at Virginia Commonwealth University and Dr. Hussein Al-Sheikh from the Iraqi Embassy’s Academic Attaché Office in Washington, D.C. During the meeting, the two universities discussed several proposed areas of cooperation, particularly the development of master's degree programs, the possibility of delivering academic programs at Al-Mustaqbal University, and the introduction of short-term professional certifications and specialized training programs. These initiatives would facilitate the exchange of expertise, leverage the academic resources of both institutions, and support the alignment of educational outcomes with labor market needs and ongoing scientific and professional developments. The participants also discussed the academic and organizational requirements for implementing the proposed programs and the mechanisms for developing them in accordance with recognized academic standards. Both sides emphasized the importance of evaluating available options and identifying the most feasible areas of cooperation as a preliminary step toward translating the proposals into practical initiatives and establishing a sustainable institutional partnership. This meeting reflects Al-Mustaqbal University's commitment to expanding its international academic partnerships and developing high-quality educational programs that enhance the academic and professional competencies of its graduates.
