As part of ongoing efforts to promote scientific activities and enhance academic knowledge in medical and engineering fields, a scientific seminar entitled “Lung Capacity: Physiological Concepts and Methods for Measuring Respiratory Air Volumes” was held to highlight the fundamental principles of respiratory physiology and the importance of measuring lung volumes and capacities in evaluating respiratory function. The seminar was conducted by Assist. Lecturer Hiba Diaa Abdul Ameer and Engineer Mohammed Abdul Kareem Razouqi, who presented an overview of the physiological concepts of lung capacity, respiratory air volumes, and different types of pulmonary capacities, including vital capacity and total lung capacity. The seminar also explained the relationships between these parameters and their significance in understanding the functions of the respiratory system. Furthermore, the seminar addressed the scientific principles underlying respiratory volume measurement and the importance of these measurements in physiological studies and medical and engineering applications. The discussions aimed to strengthen students’ theoretical understanding and expand their scientific knowledge in this field. This scientific seminar reflects the commitment to connecting academic concepts with modern scientific applications and fostering an educational and research-oriented environment. It also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
