The aviation and space sectors are witnessing rapid technological development, making space travel a commercial field that many global companies are seeking to develop after previously being limited to astronauts and scientific missions. These developments aim to create vehicles capable of transporting people beyond Earth's atmosphere and providing unique experiences such as weightlessness and viewing Earth from space. These vehicles rely on advanced technologies that combine aeronautical engineering with rocket propulsion systems. They differ from conventional aircraft, which depend on wings to generate lift through the air. They also require heat-resistant materials and advanced control, navigation, and thermal protection systems to ensure passenger safety during ascent and re-entry. Despite progress in this field, several challenges remain, including high travel costs, safety requirements, energy consumption, and environmental impacts. Specialized companies are therefore working to develop reusable vehicles to reduce operating costs and improve the efficiency of commercial space flights. Artificial intelligence, advanced materials, and modern propulsion systems are expected to contribute to the development of transportation vehicles that combine the characteristics of aircraft and spacecraft. With continued engineering innovation, space travel may become more accessible in the coming decades. However, transforming conventional aircraft into spacecraft still requires significant scientific and technological advancements. The future of commercial space travel represents a new stage in the history of human transportation. It may open broad opportunities for tourism, exploration, and high-speed travel, making space a commercial destination after having been a distant dream. Asst. Lecturer Al-Buraq Haider Mohsen
