Launch of the First Scientific Forum on Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy at Al-Mustaqbal University

The activities of the First Scientific Forum on Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy were launched on April 18, 2026. The forum was organized by the College of Health and Medical Technologies / Department of Medical Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy at Al-Mustaqbal University, inside the medical building on campus, under the slogan “Continuous Movement for a Sustainable Life.” It was held under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Dr. Zahraa Halim Al-Qayyim, and followed up by the Head of the Department, Dr. Zaid Saad Abdul Madi, with active participation from Al-Qaim Company and the attendance of a distinguished group of physicians and academics from various medical specialties. The forum aims to enhance scientific cooperation and exchange expertise among specialists, as well as to keep pace with modern developments in the field of medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy, contributing to the improvement of healthcare services and the quality of patients’ lives. The forum included a series of specialized scientific lectures. Dr. Aoun Al-Shaya, Director of the Special Internal Security Forces Hospital for Rehabilitation of the Injured, reviewed the role of robotic technologies in physiotherapy, emphasizing their contribution to improving the efficiency of rehabilitation programs and accelerating recovery. Dr. Mustafa Ali Sharif also discussed the importance of using laser technology in physiotherapy and its role in pain reduction and promoting healing. In the same context, Dr. Muntadhar Hassan Shabr, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Al-Rusafa Health Directorate, delivered a lecture on the (FreeEMG) technique, highlighting its importance in diagnosing muscular conditions and accurately evaluating functional performance. For his part, the Head of the Department, Dr. Zaid Saad Abdul Madi, explained that medical rehabilitation is a key component of complementary treatment due to its effective role in supporting treatment plans and improving patients’ quality of life through integrated programs. He also pointed out the growing importance of physiotherapy within the healthcare system, in light of rapid technological advancements and expanding job opportunities in this field. The forum concluded with honoring the lecturers and participants by the College Deanship, in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Ahmed Al-Khafaji, in appreciation of their scientific efforts and contributions to the success of the forum. This forum comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to supporting scientific activities and developing healthcare professionals, thereby enhancing the level of healthcare services provided to the community.
