Antibiotic resistance is considered one of the greatest health threats facing humanity in the 21st century. With the increasing and improper use of antibiotics, some bacteria have developed resistance, making bacterial infections more difficult to treat. Here, artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in providing innovative solutions to mitigate this problem.
AI technologies analyze biological and bacterial data to identify patterns and mechanisms that lead to drug resistance. By processing vast amounts of information from medical records and laboratory reports, AI can predict which types of infections are more likely to develop resistance, thereby guiding physicians toward the most effective antibiotic treatments.
In addition, artificial intelligence can assist in discovering new compounds that may be effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria by designing drugs that target the mechanisms bacteria use to evade therapeutic effects.
The benefit of these technologies lies in reducing the unnecessary use of antibiotics, which helps limit the development of resistance. However, further research and clinical studies are still needed to ensure the safety and effectiveness of AI-based applications in combating antibiotic resistance.
