Organizing an awareness campaign on old device waste at Al-Mustaqbal University

The Department of Medical Instrumentation Engineering Techniques at Al-Mustaqbal University – third stage organized an awareness campaign titled: “How should humans deal with old device waste?” on 25/4/2026 at Al-Mustaqbal University, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Osama Jaber, Lecturer Ali Karim, and Engineer Hussein Mazen. The campaign aimed to highlight the increasing risks of electronic waste in the modern era and clarify its negative impact on the environment and human health when disposed of improperly. It also focused on raising awareness about the importance of refurbishing old devices and reusing them for simple tasks, as well as introducing safe recycling methods by separating hazardous components from valuable materials such as precious metals. The campaign included practical guidance encouraging responsible handling of damaged devices, emphasizing that technological advancement is not limited to acquiring modern devices, but also includes proper and sustainable management of technological waste, supporting environmental preservation and promoting a culture of conscious consumption within society. This campaign aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and Goal 13 (Climate Action). Al-Mustaqbal University, ranked first among private universities in Iraq, affirms its commitment to raising awareness and supporting environmental sustainability within the community.
