Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Dr. Zahraa Haleem Al-Qaim, and the follow-up of the Head of the Department of Community Health Technologies, Prof. Dr. Aqeel Hanzal Tarish, and in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, Goal 10, the Department of Community Health Technologies, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Division at Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a scientific symposium entitled: “Legal Protection of Women from Domestic Violence in Iraqi Law.” The symposium was held on Sunday, 26/4/2026, at the Student Activities Hall in the Health and Medical Technologies Building, with the attendance of heads of departments within the College of Health and Medical Technologies, as well as a number of academic staff and students. The symposium aimed to enhance legal and social awareness, shed light on the legal aspects related to the protection of women from domestic violence, and support the role of academic institutions in disseminating legal culture and reinforcing concepts of social responsibility. The symposium included a series of specialized scientific lectures delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hussein Jabr Al-Ta’i (Public Law Philosophy) and Lecturer Assist. Muhammad Hamza Aidan (Criminal Law), addressing key legal legislations related to the protection of women and mechanisms for reducing domestic violence, emphasizing the importance of law in achieving social justice and protecting human rights. The event also witnessed notable interaction from attendees through discussions and interventions that enriched the symposium topics and enhanced legal understanding of the subject. At the conclusion of the symposium, the lecturers were honored by the Head of the Department of Community Health Technologies, Prof. Dr. Aqeel Hanzal Tarish, in appreciation of their scientific efforts and contribution to the success of the event. The organization of this symposium comes within the framework of strengthening scientific collaboration and spreading legal awareness, contributing to community service and the advancement of scientific and cognitive development Al-Mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq.
