College of Nursing Holds a Scientific Workshop on Reducing Pollution in Healthcare Institutions and Hospitals

Under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Professor Dr. Qahtan Hadi Hussein, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Nursing organized, on Sunday الموافق 26/4/2026, a scientific workshop entitled “Reducing Pollution in Healthcare Institutions and Hospitals”, held in the college halls with the participation of a number of its students. This workshop comes ضمن the college’s efforts to enhance students’ health and environmental awareness and to develop their scientific and professional skills in line with the requirements of the healthcare sector. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Ismail Mohammed Kazem Al-Saadi and Assistant Lecturer Noor Fadel Alwan, who presented a scientific overview of the main sources of pollution in healthcare institutions and hospitals, and the mechanisms to reduce them according to approved health standards. The workshop also highlighted the vital role of nursing staff in implementing environmental safety procedures and managing medical waste in scientifically sound ways, contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy environment within healthcare institutions. The workshop witnessed notable interaction from the students through questions and scientific discussions that enriched the session and enhanced awareness of the importance of maintaining a safe and pollution-free healthcare environment. This workshop is part of a series of scientific and awareness activities organized by the College of Nursing, aiming to advance the academic and professional level of students and to prepare qualified nursing cadres capable of applying best healthcare practices in a way that serves the community and contributes to the development of the health sector.
