An awareness campaign was organized in the Department of Chemical Engineering under the title “Identity and Culture: Pride in Our Roots and Openness to the World,” with the aim of raising students’ awareness of the importance of preserving cultural and national identity, while encouraging them to be positively open to other cultures and to exchange knowledge and experiences, thereby contributing to the building of a more aware and tolerant society.
The campaign highlighted the role of cultural identity in shaping an individual’s personality and reinforcing values of belonging and pride in cultural heritage, while emphasizing the importance of striking a balance between preserving authenticity and keeping pace with global developments. Its activities also included awareness-raising sessions and interactive discussions addressing cultural diversity and its impact on fostering understanding and coexistence among peoples.
The campaign organizers emphasized that pride in one’s identity does not conflict with openness to the world; rather, it serves as a fundamental basis for conscious cultural interaction and the development of a well-rounded personality capable of representing its community in a dignified and positive manner.
This campaign aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on quality education by fostering cultural and values-based awareness among students, as well as Goal 16 on peace, justice, and strong institutions through the promotion of tolerance, coexistence, and respect for cultural diversity.
