The Department of Cybersecurity Technologies Engineering at Al-Mustaqbal University, the leading private university in Iraq, organized an awareness campaign on 7-5-2026 across the university campus with the aim of raising students’ cybersecurity awareness and strengthening digital protection culture. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, and Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
The campaign included the distribution of awareness brochures addressing the concept of the first line of defense in cybersecurity, which refers to the essential preventive measures used to protect users, devices, and networks from cyberattacks before they reach targeted systems. The campaign emphasized the importance of security awareness as a fundamental pillar in confronting digital threats.
It also highlighted key protection practices, including the use of strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, regularly updating systems and software, and the importance of antivirus programs and firewalls in preventing cyber intrusions. In addition, students were educated about phishing attacks, malware threats, and effective methods of protection against them.
The campaign witnessed remarkable student engagement, contributing to strengthening their understanding of cybersecurity concepts and enhancing their ability to deal with digital threats responsibly and effectively. This reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment, as the leading private university in Iraq, to preparing highly qualified technical professionals capable of keeping pace with modern technological developments and contributing to building a secure digital environment that serves both society and the labor market.
