Aesthetic and Laser Techniques Department Conducts a Workshop on Medical Liability in Cosmetic Surgery

The Aesthetic and Laser Techniques Department at Al-Mustaqbal University conducted an electronic scientific workshop on May 20, 2026, entitled “Medical Liability in Cosmetic Surgery.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Jasim, the Department Rapporteur, with the participation of a number of department students. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the concept of medical liability in cosmetic surgery and to highlight the legal and ethical responsibilities associated with cosmetic medical procedures. It also sought to enhance students’ awareness of professional standards and legal frameworks governing cosmetic practices. The workshop addressed several key topics, including the concept of medical liability, the legal obligations of practitioners in cosmetic surgery, patients’ rights, professional negligence and its legal consequences, as well as the importance of adhering to medical and legal regulations to ensure safe and ethical practice. This workshop was organized as part of the Aesthetic and Laser Techniques Department's efforts to enrich students’ academic and professional knowledge and to strengthen their understanding of the legal dimensions of healthcare practices. The activity aligns with the vision of Al-Mustaqbal University, the leading private university in Iraq, in promoting quality education and preparing competent graduates capable of meeting professional and societal needs. It also supports Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. At the conclusion of the workshop, the importance of continuous scientific and legal awareness activities was emphasized to enhance students’ professional competencies and deepen their understanding of the responsibilities associated with cosmetic healthcare services.
