The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the School of Pharmacy at the prestigious University of Nottingham, UK. This strategic step aims to enhance international academic cooperation and open broader horizons for scientific research and smart development. The signing ceremony and discussions, which took place during an official visit to the United Kingdom, were attended by a high-ranking official delegation represented by the Iraqi Cultural Counselor to the United Kingdom, Professor Dr. Kussay Al-Ahmadi, alongside the Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Dhalimy. The British side included a number of prominent academic leaders and officials from the executive leadership and the deanship of the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham. This partnership holds exceptional significance given the prestigious standing of both institutions; the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham ranks 1st in the UK and 8th globally, maintaining a close strategic partnership with the global pharmaceutical giant (Boots). Concurrently, the College of Pharmacy at Al-Mustaqbal University stands out as a leading institution, having achieved a qualitative milestone by obtaining the American accreditation for pharmacy education.
The signed memorandum aims to establish a joint framework to build solid bridges and develop scientific, academic, and research relations between both universities by focusing on three strategic pillars. These include exploring mechanisms to develop "Double Degree" and "Progression/Twinning" academic programs, allowing Al-Mustaqbal University students to earn accredited degrees that open flexible academic pathways and provide graduates with extensive employment opportunities in major global corporations and institutions. Furthermore, the discussions covered creating new opportunities and providing facilities for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology to support student exchange. The agreement also focused on activating joint research projects and exchanging expertise and knowledge between faculty members and researchers in fields of mutual interest.
This step comes as part of Al-Mustaqbal University's ambitious strategy to strengthen its international partnerships, develop its environment and curricula to align with the highest international standards, and elevate the efficiency of its educational outcomes to meet the demands of the global labor market.
