Al-Mustaqbal University, the leading private university in Iraq, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Directorate of Industrial Development at the Ministry of Industry and Minerals on Thursday, 18 June 2026, with the aim of strengthening joint cooperation in scientific, research, and training fields, while supporting entrepreneurial initiatives that contribute to developing the capabilities of students and graduates and preparing them for the labor market.
The signing ceremony was attended by representatives of both parties. Professor Dr. Mudhafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, represented Al-Mustaqbal University, while Dr. Eng. Ali Ibrahim Janaan, Director General of the General Directorate of Industrial Development, represented the Directorate, along with several officials and specialists.
The memorandum focuses on implementing joint training programs and initiatives to develop entrepreneurial skills, exchange knowledge and expertise, and make optimal use of the scientific and research capabilities of both parties to support innovation and foster a culture of creativity among young people. It also aims to strengthen cooperation between the academic sector and government institutions by investing research outcomes to serve the industrial sector and transforming promising ideas and projects into productive opportunities that support economic development and meet community needs.
The signing of this memorandum reflects Al-Mustaqbal University's commitment to expanding its institutional partnerships and strengthening its role in serving society and sustainable development. The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
