Al-Mustaqbal University in Babylon Governorate hosted an awareness conference marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse. The event saw the participation of local government officials, security agencies, representatives from educational institutions, and tribal leaders and notables from the governorate, all aiming to emphasize the importance of raising community awareness and curbing the spread of drugs among the youth. Safwan explained that Article 40 of the Law on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances offers an opportunity for users seeking treatment; it exempts from legal prosecution anyone who voluntarily comes forward to the competent authorities to disclose their drug use and request treatment.
