In embodiment of its humanitarian and cultural mission to commemorate religious occasions and promote authentic Islamic values, Al-Mustaqbal University: The First University in Iraq organized a ceremony on Saturday, June 20, 2026, to raise the banner of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), marking the beginning of the Holy Month of Muharram. The event was held in cooperation with the Holy Hussaini Shrine and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of the University. The ceremony was attended by the University President, vice presidents, the Director of the Diwan Affairs Department, the Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, college deans, faculty members, and university staff, in addition to Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Khafaji, Head of the Academics Syndicate – Babylon Branch. The university affirmed that this annual event reflects its commitment to commemorating the eternal Husseini movement and its noble values of sacrifice, reform, justice, and adherence to humanitarian principles. The message of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) continues to inspire generations through its enduring values of dignity, courage, and righteousness. The ceremony concluded with prayers to Almighty God that this blessed month may strengthen the values of brotherhood, compassion, and social harmony, and that Iraq and its people may continue to enjoy peace, security, stability, and prosperity.
