Al-Mustaqbal University Explores Joint Master's Programs in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity with Virginia Commonwealth University

Al-Mustaqbal University, the leading private university in Iraq, held a high-level meeting with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), USA, a Carnegie R1 research institution, to discuss academic cooperation and the launch of joint Master's degree programs in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cybersecurity, as part of its strategic vision to internationalize higher education and advance scientific research through global academic partnerships. The meeting brought together the President of Al-Mustaqbal University and the Dean of the VCU College of Engineering, with the participation of representatives from the Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Washington and the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, alongside senior academic and administrative delegations from both universities. Discussions focused on VCU's research capabilities, particularly in robotics and autonomous systems, and resulted in an agreement on the general framework for the proposed joint Master's programs in accordance with international academic standards and Iraqi higher education regulations. During the meeting, Al-Mustaqbal University reaffirmed its commitment to expanding international academic collaboration by developing postgraduate programs based on globally recognized curricula, strengthening joint research in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, and intelligent systems, promoting collaborative publications in leading international journals, and enhancing academic exchange opportunities for faculty members and researchers. Both parties confirmed that technical meetings will continue to finalize the implementation procedures and draft the formal agreements before obtaining the necessary approvals from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with the aim of launching the joint programs at the earliest opportunity. This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University's commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by fostering international collaboration, advancing research excellence, and preparing graduates with future-ready skills in emerging technologies.
