President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, welcomed Dr. Habib Al-Hilawi and Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Masoudi, Member of the Parliamentary Education Committee, in a meeting that addressed the current landscape of higher education in Iraq, academic excellence, and the role of universities in supporting society and sustainable development. The meeting focused on the importance of advancing higher education in line with quality and academic accreditation standards, improving educational services, and strengthening the presence of Iraqi universities within the international academic community. The discussions also highlighted the need to keep pace with developments in higher education and enhance the competitiveness of Iraqi academic institutions. The participants also discussed Al-Mustaqbal University’s experience in developing international academic relations through twinning, academic hosting, partnerships, and joint programmes with prestigious global universities. These initiatives represent important pathways for improving the educational environment and promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise. Dr. Habib Al-Hilawi expressed his appreciation for the academic and scientific standing achieved by Al-Mustaqbal University, emphasizing that the university represents a distinguished academic experience in Babil Governorate. He highlighted not only its academic contribution but also its significant social and economic impact, particularly its role in providing employment opportunities for more than 2,000 citizens from the governorate. Al-Hilawi noted that such contributions demonstrate the important role universities can play in supporting local development by creating employment opportunities, attracting qualified professionals, and contributing to addressing economic and social challenges. For his part, Prof. Dr. Hassan Al-Masoudi emphasized that maintaining high academic standards in higher education is a shared responsibility among educational institutions and relevant authorities. He praised the academic indicators achieved by Al-Mustaqbal University, including success rates exceeding 90% in the evaluative examinations across most academic subjects, describing them as an important indicator of academic quality. Prof. Dr. Al-Masoudi also commended the university’s international programmes, stressing that engagement with global universities and the exchange of expertise are essential to advancing higher education and strengthening the capabilities of students and academic staff. Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi reaffirmed that Al-Mustaqbal University will continue implementing its vision of advancing academic performance and infrastructure, while strengthening partnerships with national and international institutions in line with the requirements of modern higher education and the university’s commitment to serving society.
