AL_Mustaqbal University and UC Davis Explore Strengthening International Partnership in Smart Agriculture, Energy, and Water.

AL_Mustaqbal University, during a joint virtual meeting with the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), explored prospects for cooperation and strategic partnerships in the fields of smart agriculture, water technologies, energy, and climate action. This collaboration aims to bolster the university's commitment to internationalizing higher education and expanding its international academic and research partnerships. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Magdy, President of AL_Mustaqbal University, and attended by Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, Professor Dr. Azhar Mohsen Abdul, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Technologies, and several department and research center directors, along with Dr. Zahraa Al-Naqqash, representing the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. UC Davis was represented by Dr. Christopher A. Marconi, Director of Business Development and International Programs, and Dr. Jake Hosier. The university president outlined AL_Mustaqbal University's vision for collaboration in smart agriculture and sustainable solutions, emphasizing the importance of international partnerships in generating applied scientific knowledge that contributes to addressing climate and water challenges and supports the transition to fourth-generation universities and sustainable development. The university also presented a preliminary roadmap for research and field collaboration, based on its capabilities and agricultural infrastructure, particularly land reclamation and green cover projects, modern irrigation and farming systems, hydroponics, organic and livestock production, beekeeping and dairy production, as well as agricultural extension and training programs and community service initiatives. Representatives from UC Davis commended AL_Mustaqbal University's capabilities and applied focus, as well as its presence in global rankings. Both sides agreed to continue coordinating to develop joint capacity-building programs and implement impactful research and applied projects that support the Sustainable Development Goals and promote innovation in the fields of agriculture, water, and energy.
