Al-Mustaqbal University Explores Opportunities for Academic and Research Collaboration with UC Davis

Al-Mustaqbal University held discussions with representatives of the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) on August 29, 2026, to explore opportunities for advancing academic, professional, and research collaboration, as well as expanding international partnerships in ways that contribute to the development of educational and research programs and promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge. The meeting addressed a number of priority areas for cooperation, including professional and continuing education, energy, applied agriculture, engineering, and emerging technologies. The two sides also discussed international models and best practices in education, training, and capacity building, as well as opportunities to develop joint academic programs and strengthen scientific and academic exchange between the two institutions. The discussions also focused on opportunities to enhance cooperation in international academic accreditation and to develop educational programs in line with international standards and practices. In addition, the two sides explored mechanisms for supporting joint research and expanding opportunities for collaboration among faculty members and researchers at both universities. The meeting further addressed a number of topics related to sustainability and innovation, particularly the development of smart grids for arid environments, the application of agrivoltaics, the conversion of waste into biofuels, and the development of the green campus concept. The participants also discussed the potential to benefit from international experiences in Zero Net Energy (ZNE) campuses and explore ways of adapting such practices to the needs and local context of Al-Mustaqbal University. The meeting forms part of Al-Mustaqbal University’s efforts to expand its international academic partnerships, develop its educational programs in response to scientific developments and labor-market needs, and support research, innovation, and sustainable development initiatives. The areas of cooperation discussed during the meeting are aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 7 on Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. Further opportunities for research collaboration are expected to be explored separately by faculty members and researchers from both institutions. Such cooperation would provide opportunities to develop joint research areas, exchange academic expertise and experience, and establish new avenues for collaborative scientific and research projects. This initiative reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to expanding its international academic presence, strengthening an educational and research environment that supports innovation and sustainability, and building institutional partnerships that contribute to advancing the quality of education and research while serving the wider community.
