Al-Mustaqbal University Organizes a Specialized Training Workshop on Selecting Reliable Journals for Academic Publishing In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Presidency of Al-Mustaqbal University, the Department of Community Health Technologies at the College of Health and Medical Technologies organized a specialized practical training workshop entitled “Step by Step Guide to Checking a Journal for Your Manuscript.” The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Aqeel Handil Al-Joudhari, Head of the Department of Community Health Technologies. The workshop addressed the process of selecting an appropriate scientific journal for a research manuscript and verifying its reliability before submission for publication. Participants received practical training on checking journal indexing in Scopus and Web of Science, as well as learning about major journal evaluation metrics, including CiteScore, SJR, SNIP, Impact Factor, and H-index, in addition to understanding journal quartile rankings from Q1 to Q4. The workshop also included practical training on identifying predatory, hijacked, fake, and commercial journals, along with using a number of reliable scientific websites and databases to evaluate journals and verify their suitability for scholarly publication. Workshop Benefits The workshop contributes to enhancing the skills of researchers and postgraduate students in selecting reputable and suitable scientific journals for their research and avoiding unreliable or predatory journals. It also strengthens their ability to evaluate journals in terms of indexing, ranking, quality indicators, and publication fees before submitting their manuscripts.
