Prof. Dr. Ahmed Khudair Al-Hamiry, Head of the Anesthesia Techniques Department at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Mustaqbal University, participated in and chaired the defense committee for the PhD dissertation submitted by researcher Farah Safaa Abdul-Hussein at the College of Science, University of Babylon, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The dissertation, entitled “Caspases and some cytokines profile in visceral leishmaniasis rat: an case control study” examined the role of several caspases and cytokines associated with the immune response in an animal model of visceral leishmaniasis, as well as the changes in certain biomarkers related to inflammatory responses, apoptosis, and oxidative stress resulting from the infection. The defense committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Khudhair Abees and included Prof. Dr. Hiyam Khalis Anfous, Prof. Dr. Qasim Abdullah Hamza, Prof. Dr. Haider Shakhir Abees, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Abbas, and Prof. Dr. Alaa Tariq Shakir, as a member and supervisor. The dissertation defense was conducted in a scientific and academic atmosphere characterized by scholarly dialogue and the exchange of views and observations. The committee discussed the dissertation’s content, methodology, and major findings, evaluating the research in accordance with established academic standards. This participation highlights the scientific and academic presence of Al-Mustaqbal University faculty members and their active contribution to academic committees and research defenses at Iraqi universities, reflecting the high level of scientific expertise and specialization among the University’s faculty.
