The First Open Session of the Council of the Department of Radiology Technologies for the Academic Year 2026–2027 was held under the chairmanship of the Council Chairman, Prof. Dr. Raad Shakir Abees, with the attendance of all Council members, along with the College’s Head of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Unit, the Department’s Quality Officer, and the General Student Representative. The meeting was held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The meeting addressed a comprehensive agenda aimed at organizing the Department’s academic and administrative activities at the beginning of the new academic year. The key recommendations and decisions included: Teaching Assignments and Workloads: Approval of the distribution schedule for curricular subjects, including assessment and core courses, as well as theoretical and practical teaching workloads for the Department’s academic staff across all study levels (First, Second, Third, and Fourth) for both semesters. The Council also recommended seeking approval to engage external lecturers in specialized fields. Permanent and Supporting Committees: Approval of the formation of 25 main and supporting committees covering scientific affairs, examinations, quality assurance, occupational safety, and student affairs, to be submitted to the Deanship for the issuance of administrative orders. Examination Status and SIS: Adoption of the follow-up report on the Second-Round examinations and confirmation of full readiness to implement the Student Information System (SIS), including the entry of coursework and examination records for all study levels. The electronic verification rate for Third-Year students reached 62.1%. Proposed Research Plan: Approval of the research plan for the academic year 2026–2027, comprising 20 proposed scientific research projects involving 11 faculty members, to be submitted to the Scientific Affairs Division. Student Recruitment and Promotion Plan: Approval of an interactive promotional plan featuring free workshops, open days, artificial intelligence applications in radiology (NeoRad AI), and 3D simulation technology to provide students with an immersive representation of the professional work environment. Human Resources Needs: Identification of the Department’s urgent need for additional academic staff holding higher degrees in specialized fields, including Radiology, Ultrasound, and Radiological Physics. Program Accreditation File: Follow-up on the progress of the Program Accreditation Committee after completing the collection of evidence and documentation for all national standards, with work commencing on the final drafting of the Self-Study Report (SSR) and the Improvement Plan.
