The President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, received at the University Presidency the Director General of the Environmental Protection and Improvement Department in the Middle Euphrates Region, Eng. Makki Hadi Imran Al-Shammari, accompanied by a representative of the Ministry of Environment and a representative of environmental organizations. The meeting addressed ways to strengthen joint cooperation in environmental protection, climate change response, and sustainability initiatives. The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation between the University, government institutions, environmental authorities, and community organizations, with the aim of utilizing academic and research expertise to address environmental challenges and develop practical, applicable solutions. The participants also discussed activating environmental, field-based, and awareness initiatives, as well as strengthening partnerships that support the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, thereby enhancing cooperation among academic, governmental, and community institutions. The University President affirmed Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to supporting national initiatives focused on environmental protection and adaptation to climate change, while fostering cooperation with relevant institutions. This reflects the University’s role in supporting sustainability and contributing to scientific and practical solutions to environmental challenges.
