Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majid, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, chaired the first meeting of the University Council for the 2026–2027 academic year on September 19, 2026, in the presence of the University President’s Assistants, Deans of Colleges, Heads of Departments, and Council members. The meeting addressed a number of academic, administrative, and organizational matters and approved an integrated action plan for the new academic year.
At the beginning of the meeting, the University President congratulated the teaching and administrative staff and students on the start of the new academic year, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regular classes from the first day, promptly announcing academic schedules, strengthening student activities, supporting talents, and placing students at the center of the educational process while preparing them to meet labor market requirements and contribute to serving the community.
The President also congratulated the students and the Student Activities Division on achieving first place in Iraq among private universities and colleges in student activities, commending the efforts that contributed to this achievement.
The Council discussed the academic calendar and preparations for the 2026–2027 academic year, with classes scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 20, 2026. It also reviewed second-round examinations and the announcement of results, while emphasizing the implementation of the SIS system and the electronic governance system approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in addition to organizing orientation workshops to ensure the completion of student registration procedures.
The Council also discussed the organization of tuition fee payments into four installments, with the first installment set at 25% of the annual tuition fee, payable from September 15 to September 30, 2026. The meeting further addressed admission rates and regulations and approved the tuition fees for the 2026–2027 academic year.
With regard to internationalization and postgraduate studies, the Council reviewed the student training experience at the University of the West of England (UWE), followed up on postgraduate studies and recent international visits, and emphasized expanding international academic and research partnerships. The Council also reviewed the minutes of the Colleges’ Councils, ministerial directives and correspondence, as well as legal matters.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majid emphasized the importance of continued teamwork, enhancing academic and administrative performance, and strengthening innovation, digital transformation, scientific research, and international partnerships, in support of Al-Mustaqbal University’s mission to prepare qualified scientific and professional graduates who meet the needs of society and the labor market.
