The European Union Mission in Iraq, in cooperation with the Department of International and Arab Organisations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, organised a specialised training workshop at Al-Mustaqbal University on developing institutional capacities and expanding the utilisation of the applications and opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ Programme, with the participation of a number of public and private universities in the Middle Euphrates region. The workshop was launched in the presence of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Muwaffaq Sajit, Director of the Department of International and Arab Organisations at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Ms. Asmaa Al-Samadi, Project Manager at the National Office for Erasmus+ Programmes in Jordan; as well as directors of cultural relations, international programme officers, and a number of college deans and department heads at the University. The workshop opened with a speech on behalf of the Presidency of Al-Mustaqbal University, delivered by Prof. Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision. He affirmed that hosting the meeting reflects the University’s belief in the importance of international cooperation in capacity building, highlighting the recent award of a grant to one of the University’s projects under the Jean Monnet initiatives of the Erasmus+ Programme as a pioneering step towards strengthening its international academic presence. In a statement to the University’s Media Office, the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, affirmed that hosting the workshop aligns with the University’s commitment to strengthening its international presence and fostering a culture of global projects aimed at developing academic staff. He explained that the three-day workshop focuses on providing technical support, introducing grant application mechanisms, and preparing competitive projects that contribute to the internationalisation of Iraqi higher education.
