Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al Mustaqbal University, will participate as a keynote speaker at the THE Arab Universities Summit 2026, organised by Times Higher Education in partnership with Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Ben Guerir, Kingdom of Morocco, from 3 to 5 November 2026. The selection of the President of Al Mustaqbal University among the distinguished speakers at the summit reflects the university’s growing presence in international academic forums, particularly in areas related to sustainable development and clean energy. Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi will take part in a high-level panel discussion titled “The Role of Universities in Accelerating the Clean Energy Transition,” scheduled to be held on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, at the Ibn Rushd Hall. The session will explore the role of universities and research institutions in supporting the transition towards clean energy systems, developing innovative renewable energy solutions, promoting sustainable practices, and addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with the environmental transition in the Arab region. The session will bring together a number of experts, academics, and policymakers, including Dr. Tadgh O’Donovan, Chief Scientist at Heriot-Watt University Dubai, while the discussion will be moderated by Ms. Maya Haddad, Senior Sustainability Director at Ajman University. The President of Al Mustaqbal University will also participate in the Presidents’ Roundtable, a closed-door discussion addressing a range of issues related to the future of higher education, including aligning higher education outcomes with labour market needs amid environmental challenges and limited resources.
