The healthcare sector is undergoing rapid development with the growing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), which is playing an increasingly important role in advancing personalized medicine. This approach focuses on providing healthcare and treatments tailored to each patient’s individual characteristics, including genetic factors, lifestyle, environment, and medical history. Artificial intelligence enables the analysis of vast and diverse amounts of medical and biological data within short periods, helping to build a more comprehensive understanding of a patient’s health condition. Intelligent systems can also analyze genomic data and medical histories to identify indicators that may be associated with an increased susceptibility to certain diseases, supporting preventive and diagnostic interventions at an early stage. AI is also becoming increasingly important in drug therapy, as machine-learning technologies can analyze patients’ responses to medications and predict potential responses to different treatments. This can assist physicians in selecting more appropriate therapeutic options and reducing the likelihood of certain adverse effects. In the field of diagnosis, artificial intelligence algorithms contribute to analyzing medical images and clinical data and identifying relevant indicators that can support physicians in making clinical decisions. Intelligent systems can also use extensive databases to compare the characteristics of a new case with data from previous cases, providing supporting information that may help determine appropriate diagnostic and treatment pathways. The role of artificial intelligence also extends to medical research and development through assisting in the analysis of scientific data, simulating certain research scenarios, and identifying potential indicators and targets that could contribute to the development of new drugs and therapies. This may help accelerate various stages of medical research. Despite these advanced capabilities, expanding the use of artificial intelligence in personalized medicine requires careful consideration of several important issues, particularly patient privacy, medical data security, algorithmic transparency, and the accuracy of the models used. It also requires clear regulatory and ethical frameworks to ensure the responsible use of these technologies. The integration of artificial intelligence and personalized medicine represents an important transformation in the future of healthcare. It enables a shift from generalized treatment models toward approaches that take greater account of individual patient characteristics, while providing physicians with advanced analytical tools to support more data-informed decisions and placing the patient at the center of the medical care process.
