Physical Therapy and Physical Activity in the Prevention of Heart Disease and Stroke

The Department of Medical Rehabilitation Techniques and Physical Therapy organized an awareness activity to mark World Physical Therapy Day (World PT Day 2026), under the supervision of Mr. Hisham Maher Mohammed, with the aim of highlighting the important role of physical therapy and physical activity in preventing cardiovascular diseases and stroke. The activity introduced the importance of cardiac and neurological rehabilitation and their role in improving mobility and functional abilities, enhancing individual independence, and contributing to a better quality of life. It also emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to prevent diseases and promote overall health. The awareness topics highlighted the importance of regular physical activity, following a healthy and balanced diet, maintaining a healthy body weight, avoiding smoking, and managing risk factors associated with cardiovascular diseases and stroke. This activity reflects the department’s commitment to promoting health awareness among students and the community, raising awareness of the importance of physical therapy and rehabilitation in disease prevention, and improving physical health, functional capacity, and quality of life.
