Flexible bioelectronics is one of the promising modern technologies in biomedical engineering. It combines engineering principles, electronics, and medical sciences to develop thin, flexible devices capable of interacting with the skin and continuously monitoring the body’s vital signs. These technologies can adapt to the body’s contours and movements, making them more comfortable for users compared with many conventional monitoring devices. They enable the measurement of important parameters, such as heart rate, skin temperature, muscle electrical activity, and physiological changes associated with sweating. Furthermore, these technologies are expected to contribute to the development of smart healthcare systems, remote patient monitoring, and the early detection of certain health changes. Keywords: Flexible bioelectronics, wearable sensors, physiological monitoring, biomedical engineering, smart healthcare. 1. Introduction In recent years, wearable medical devices have witnessed significant development due to the growing need for more accurate and comfortable methods of monitoring human health. This progress has contributed to the emergence of flexible bioelectronics, an advanced approach to designing miniaturized medical devices capable of adhering to the skin and monitoring physiological changes within the body. Unlike conventional electronic devices, which often rely on rigid materials, flexible bioelectronics uses thin materials that can bend and stretch. This allows the devices to adapt to body movements without significantly compromising user comfort. Some of these devices resemble thin medical patches placed on the skin, but they incorporate sensors and electronic circuits capable of collecting and processing physiological data. The importance of this technology lies in its potential to transform health monitoring from intermittent examinations conducted in hospitals and clinics into continuous monitoring that helps researchers and healthcare professionals understand changes occurring in the human body during daily activities. 2. The Concept of Flexible Bioelectronics Flexible bioelectronics refers to electronic systems designed using flexible and biocompatible materials that can operate in contact with the skin or interact with biological signals generated by the human body. These systems typically consist of several essential components, including: * Biosensors: Used to measure physiological and chemical parameters, such as skin temperature and certain components of sweat. * Electrodes: Detect electrical signals generated by the activity of the heart or muscles. * Flexible Substrates: Provide a thin, bendable foundation for the device, using materials such as certain types of flexible polymers. * Electronic Circuits: Amplify, filter, and process physiological signals to improve their quality and reliability. * Wireless Communication Modules: Transmit data to smartphones or medical systems for monitoring and analysis. The successful development of these devices depends on achieving a balance between mechanical flexibility, measurement accuracy, skin compatibility, and energy efficiency.
