President of Al-Mustaqbal University Chairs the Second University Council Meeting and Commends Global Achievements and International Engagement Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, chaired the second meeting of the University Council in the presence of its members to discuss key strategic academic and developmental issues and follow up on new ministerial decisions. The University President praised the university’s outstanding results and continued achievements, highlighting its leading position among private universities and colleges in Iraq in prestigious international rankings, particularly the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings and the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. On the occasion of Erasmus Days, the meeting emphasized expanding international cooperation and leveraging European Union programmes (Erasmus+ 2028–2034) to support academic mobility for students and faculty members, provide master’s scholarships, and promote Jean Monnet Actions projects, which Al-Mustaqbal University was the first private university in Iraq to obtain. The President also reviewed his participation in the UNIMED General Assembly 2026, hosted by the University of Barcelona in Spain, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the union’s establishment. The meetings addressed the union’s strategic priorities, including higher education governance, digital education, intercultural dialogue, graduate employability, education during crises, and sustainable development. Student Activities and Empowerment: The Council directed support for cultural and scientific activities, encouraged competitions, and called for expediting the formation of student councils. Ministerial Decisions: The Council directed the implementation of the Ministry’s instructions regarding counting the 2025–2026 academic year as a non-failing year for students covered by enrolment cancellation provisions, in accordance with the applicable regulations. Promotion and Student Recruitment: The Council called for intensifying media and marketing campaigns to introduce newly established departments and highlight the university’s distinguished services, strengths, and international rankings, thereby guiding prospective students and their parents and facilitating registration procedures. Academic Programme and Curriculum Development: The Council emphasized establishing and developing joint educational programmes with international universities and implementing all requirements and recommendations of expert committees to enhance academic standards and ensure academic excellence.
