As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen its academic and research standing at both the local and international levels, Al-Mustaqbal University held a specialized academic event on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, to review its achievements in global rankings, analyze academic and research performance indicators, and discuss strategies for expanding international cooperation, enhancing competitiveness, and promoting institutional sustainability. The event was attended by the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, the Assistant Presidents of the University, college deans, department and division directors, as well as a number of faculty members and university staff. The gathering highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration and the adoption of a continuous improvement approach. During the event, the University President emphasized that the achievements attained reflect the effectiveness of strategic planning and the integration of academic, research, and administrative efforts. He praised the university’s personnel for their significant contributions to these accomplishments. He also stressed the need to continue advancing scientific research, increasing publications in reputable scholarly journals, expanding international partnerships, and utilizing performance indicators to establish priorities and develop future improvement plans. The event featured specialized presentations delivered by Professor Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, Assistant President for Student Affairs and Academic Affairs; Professor Dr. Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Academic and Scientific Supervision; Professor Dr. Tariq Jawad Kadhim, Director of the Scientific Affairs Department; and Ali Abbas Zuwain, Head of the Global Rankings Unit. The presentations examined the university’s key achievements, performance indicators, strengths, and opportunities for improvement, as well as strategies to enhance its presence in international university rankings. The presentations also highlighted several significant accomplishments, most notably Al-Mustaqbal University’s first-place ranking among private Iraqi universities in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for sustainability. The university also made its first appearance in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027, placing in the 1201–1400 global ranking band, in addition to achieving notable results in research-based and subject-specific rankings. The event concluded with an emphasis on translating performance analysis and ranking results into clear, measurable action plans, strengthening coordination and integration among the university’s colleges and departments, and expanding international academic and research collaboration.
