The Department of Biology at the College of Science, Al-Mustaqbal University, held a scientific workshop entitled “A Journey Inside the Cell” on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The workshop was delivered by Dr. Amir Naji Obaid Al-Janabi at 12:00 noon in the Student Activities Hall of the Medical Building. The workshop explored cell components and the internal structures of cells, explaining the functions of various organelles. It also discussed the nature of genetic material (DNA) and its role in storing and transmitting genetic information, as well as introducing the concept of a gene as a segment of DNA that contains information responsible for determining certain traits or contributing to specific biological functions. The workshop further highlighted the relationship between the cell and its genetic material and the importance of genetic information in regulating the biological activities of living organisms. The workshop aimed to broaden participants’ understanding of the fundamentals of cell biology and genetics and to connect concepts related to cell structure and function with the genetic information that influences many traits and biological processes. This contributes to strengthening their scientific understanding of the fundamental concepts of biological sciences. This workshop is part of the Department of Biology’s scientific activities aimed at expanding biological knowledge and enhancing understanding of the fundamental topics that form the basis for studying various biological disciplines.
