As part of its student activities aimed at promoting psychological and social awareness, the Civil Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized an awareness activity entitled “Redefining Success: Not as We See It on Social Media” on Sunday, October 27, 2026. The activity involved distributing awareness brochures to students across the university campus under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Wurood Raouf Abdulhussein and Assistant Lecturer Saif Salam Saud. The activity highlighted the importance of reconsidering the concept of success and moving away from unrealistic standards promoted by social media platforms, along with the constant comparisons that may negatively affect students’ self-esteem and sense of achievement. It emphasized that success is not measured by appearances or by the achievements others choose to display online. Rather, it is reflected in personal growth, achieving goals in accordance with individual abilities and capabilities, and continuing to learn and progress with confidence and balance. The activity aimed to raise students’ awareness of a realistic and balanced understanding of success and strengthen their ability to establish positive personal standards of achievement, free from the superficial influences of social media. This approach contributes to building self-confidence and encouraging students to focus on their academic and personal development.
