As part of its commitment to strengthening practical education and connecting theoretical knowledge with real-world engineering applications, the Department of Prosthetics and Orthotics Engineering at the College of Engineering, Al-Mustaqbal University, organized a field workshop for fourth-year students, including an academic visit to the manufacturing laboratories and production lines at the College of Engineering, University of Babylon, on Monday, November 2, 2026. The visit was supervised and accompanied by Assistant Lecturer Abdullah Qais Hashim, instructor of the Manufacturing Processes course, alongside Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hamza Daham Al-Mamouri. The activity aimed to provide students with valuable exposure to engineering laboratories and manufacturing environments while enhancing their understanding of the scientific and technical principles underlying manufacturing and production processes. The workshop focused on introducing students to practical manufacturing concepts, laboratory operations, and production line mechanisms. It also highlighted the importance of manufacturing technologies in various engineering applications, particularly in prosthetics and orthotics engineering, where knowledge of manufacturing methods, material selection, and production techniques plays a vital role in developing prosthetic and orthotic devices. Furthermore, the visit contributed to strengthening academic cooperation between Al-Mustaqbal University and other educational institutions, allowing students to broaden their engineering knowledge and connect the theoretical concepts covered in the Manufacturing Processes course with practical applications. This initiative reflects the department's ongoing efforts to enhance experiential learning, develop students' technical competencies, and prepare future engineers to meet evolving industrial and professional requirements. The activity also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), by promoting practical engineering education and technological awareness.
