Social solidarity is a deeply rooted human value emphasized by Islam. It is based on cooperation, compassion, and a sense of responsibility towards the most vulnerable, thus strengthening social cohesion and mitigating the effects of poverty and economic inequality. Islam has made Zakat (obligatory almsgiving) a duty that contributes to the redistribution of a portion of wealth. It also encourages voluntary charity, assisting the needy, and caring for orphans and widows, underscoring the importance of solidarity among members of society. Social solidarity is not limited to providing financial assistance; it also encompasses moral support, providing educational and employment opportunities, and empowering families to become self-reliant and improve their living conditions. Furthermore, promoting a culture of giving fosters trust and closeness among different social groups and reduces feelings of isolation and marginalization that may accompany economic crises. In light of contemporary economic challenges, the importance of activating charitable institutions and community initiatives, and organizing aid in a fair and sustainable manner, becomes paramount, preserving human dignity and fulfilling the objectives of social solidarity. A compassionate society is not measured solely by its wealth, but by its ability to protect its members, support the vulnerable, and translate the values of compassion and cooperation into tangible actions that combat poverty and promote social stability. Al-Mustaqbal University is ranked first among Iraqi private universities.
