Under the patronage of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Rozan Salman, Dean of the College of Education, the Department of English at the College of Education – Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific workshop in celebration of International Translation Day, presented by Dr. Salam Hassan Maki, Head of the Department, and attended by a group of distinguished professors, lecturers, and students. The workshop aimed to highlight the vital role of translation in transmitting knowledge among nations and fostering cultural and intellectual communication. It also emphasized its importance in enriching academic research and supporting intellectual development in modern societies. During the session, Dr. Salam Maki discussed several key topics, including the evolution of translation throughout history, the challenges translators face in the era of digital globalization, and the importance of linguistic and cultural accuracy in literary and academic translation. Practical examples from literary and academic texts were also presented, creating an engaging and interactive atmosphere. The workshop witnessed active participation from students, who expressed their enthusiasm for enhancing their translation skills and acknowledged its significance in improving their linguistic competence and professional development. At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees extended their appreciation to the Head of the Department for organizing such an enriching and insightful event, which underscored the essential role of translation within the field of English studies.
